As an event photographer I sometimes get e-mails that instantly make my heart beat faster. This happened when I got the message for a photography assignment offered to me by the video production company Frequin TV. This company again was hired by The Holland Boat to provide the visual content for this event. Frequin TV appointed me as the official event photographer. The event took place in Monaco during the Grand Prix. To get to The Holland Boat I first had to take the train to Schiphol; from Amsterdam I flew to Nice and took a taxi to the port of Fontvieille. From here I was transported with a tender (small boat) to the large Holland Boat where the event took place. Quite a trip but worthwhile for the wonderful day that I was to experience here.
It was my task to tell the whole story of this event through my photography. This meant that my assignment started before I arrived on the Holland Boat. I took pictures of check-in desk at the Port of Fontvielle, shot some images of the guests being transported in the tenders and shot some environmental photos of Monaco even before I entered The Holland Boat. When I arrived at the boat it was up to me to capture the atmosphere of the event, to include all sponsors and to provide good overal images that they could use as promotional material for the next edition. During the event Dutch celebrities were present, artists were performing, unlimited drinks and high-class catering were offered. A perfect formula for a nice day of luxurious recreation. Time flew by and before I knew we were back at the airport to catch our flight home. The organization had chartered a flight from Nice back to Amsterdam. This was the perfect opportunity for me to take one final photo at high altitude. I'm really happy with the end result of this assignment, and I will never forget this perfect photography adventure for the rest of my life.
